Hello, I’m Carys — a multimedia storyteller, advocate, and artist.

As a deaf, queer, and Chinese transracial adoptee, my lens is shaped by lived experience. Through photography, film, and intentional storytelling, I strive to amplify the voices of those navigating systems of oppression.

My work is an act of resistance, revival, and reclamation — rooted in the belief that visibility can be revolutionary.

Recognized by Cochlear, Partners for Youth with Disabilities, and the Massachusetts Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, I bring heart and purpose to every frame.

While receiving my BA in Communication Studies from Emerson College, I released my second film “Home” about my journey to intersectional empowerment. My storytelling is raw, radical, and real — built on trust, collaboration, and joy.

Watch the Story of Me

Hi, I’m Peter — a practical creative, advocate, and strategist.

As a trans and late-diagnosed autistic person, I understand the isolation of not seeing your story told. Identity has forged my values of justice, growth, and community. I am passionate about building systems that truly serve — ones that recognize people’s full humanity, not just their productivity.

While earning my BA in Psychological Science from the University of Vermont, I discovered my passion for social change and human-centered design. My academic and lived experiences deepened my commitment to disability justice, intersectionality, and collective care.

At Carys Mei Media, I serve as the strategic executor — weaving accessibility, intention, and equity into the foundation of everything we do. Carys is the soul to my backbone. I believe that every story told with care becomes a tool for transformation.

We built this from love

We met in Boston during an internship for social change. As friends, we began writing poetry side by side in the park, blending our voices. That was our first collaboration.

With poems, photographs, and artwork, we filled the space with things we never said before. We learned how to see each other more deeply — and, slowly, how to see ourselves.

We’ve searched our whole lives for reflections of ourselves – as disabled, queer, trans, Chinese, adopted, autistic and deaf. We connected on feeling like our identities were too much — or not enough.

We’ve photographed each other for years — floating in water, breaking binaries, falling in love. Every photo, a love letter to complexity.

With that we introduce Carys Mei Media; because the stories we were yearning for were the ones we needed to tell ourselves. We share with you a soft landing to arrive as your full self. Together, we built this business from that place: where grief meets beauty, where care meets creation. We want people to feel seen.

Whether it’s a pet session, a proposal, a portrait, or a moment of reinvention, we meet you where you are. If the camera feels intimidating, we offer warm-up time and gentleness. If you're nervous, we’ll remind you: you don’t have to perform. You already belong.

“At Carys Mei Media, our promise is simple:
We aren’t looking for anything. Just you.”
